Verda Series B: $189M Makes Europe's Newest AI Cloud Unicorn
Verda, the Helsinki AI cloud also known as DataCrunch, announced today it raised $189 million in new funding. The company blog, dated September 22, 2026 and bylined Ömer Tümer, calls the round an oversubscribed Series B led by Emergence Capital. The same post calls Verda Europe’s latest unicorn. Total funding to date is over $450 million across equity and debt.
Those figures are company-reported. The blog does not print a valuation number.
Who is on the cap table
Emergence Capital led. The company post also names MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, ENDUR, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), byFounders, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd), and angels including Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim.
Company-reported scale. Not independently verified here.
Verda put these operating figures on the September 22 blog. They are company claims:
- $165 million annualized revenue run rate in July 2026.
- 250+ people across Helsinki, London, Taipei, and San Francisco.
- AI workloads for organizations in 50+ countries.
The same post names Aleph Alpha, Magnific, and Epsilon Health as customers already running production work on Verda. Those names are the company’s.
What the raise is supposed to buy
The blog says Verda designs and builds its own data centers, the infrastructure inside them, and the platform on top. It plans more than 250 MW of operations in 2027, with capacity live in Finland today and more coming online in Europe, the UK, the US, and Asia. It anticipates early NVIDIA VR200 NVL72 deployments in the coming months.
Those capacity and hardware dates are company plans, not third-party schedules.
What Tech.eu adds that the blog does not
Tech.eu, also September 22, 2026, corroborates the $189 million, the Emergence lead, the $450 million-plus total, and the unicorn label. It attributes a valuation of over $1 billion to the company. That number is not on the Verda blog. Do not treat it as a first-party figure.
Tech.eu says Verda was founded in Helsinki in 2020 and recently opened London and San Francisco offices. It labels Ola Tørudbakken of Meta and Mark Saroufim of Core Auto and GPUMODE. Those affiliations are not on the company post. Tech.eu’s named-investor list also omits ENDUR, which is on the blog.
“There’s a window right now to build one of the defining compute companies of this generation, and to do so from Europe. It won’t be open for long.”
Ruben Bryon, founder and CEO of Verda, on the September 22 company blog. The distinguishing facts on that paper remain the $189 million Series B, Emergence as lead, the unicorn claim, and more than $450 million raised to date across equity and debt.
