Salience Labs Raises $125M Series B for Photonic AI Datacenter Switches
Salience Labs closed an oversubscribed $125 million Series B led by Bullhound Capital, with AMD Ventures and Intel Capital among new or additional participants, according to the company's October 14, 2026 announcement and the matching Business Wire release. The Oxford-founded photonics company will use the capital to accelerate optical circuit switching (OCS) deployment, scale volume manufacturing, and expand its U.S. presence in Silicon Valley.
The numbers on the wire
- $125 million Series B, described as oversubscribed.
- Lead: Bullhound Capital; Principal Callum Stewart joins the board.
- Additional participants named: AMD Ventures, Intel Capital, SBI Group, Hudson River Trading, and British Business Bank.
- Existing shareholders continuing: Applied Ventures LLC, Oxford Science Enterprises, Cambridge Innovation Capital, and Silicon Catalyst Ventures.
- No valuation disclosed on the primary wires.
What the product is
Salience Labs builds fully integrated, silicon-photonics all-optical switches aimed at AI datacenter scale-up networking — keeping traffic optical end-to-end across racks rather than converting through power-hungry electrical switch fabrics. The company says its architecture is built to connect thousands of GPUs across multiple racks.
The financing follows a live demo of a 64-port all-optical photonic switch at ECOC 2026, which Salience calls an industry first for silicon photonics OCS. The company says the round funds future 128- and 256-port OCS products. On its product page it markets an OC-32M module with company-claimed specs including 10 ns port-to-port latency, <1 W/port, and support up to 200 Gbit/s per fiber (figures are company-reported, not third-party audited here).
Manufacturing and footprint
Salience says it will continue working with Keysight Technologies and Tower Semiconductor to scale high-volume manufacturing, and will open a second West Coast / Silicon Valley office. Founded in 2021 on research from the University of Oxford and the University of Münster, the company will also showcase OCS at PECC Summit in Sunnyvale, Oct 20–21, 2026.
Market context cited on the wire
The release cites Dell'Oro Group forecasting cumulative spending on datacenter switches in AI back-end networks approaching $1 trillion over 2026–2030, with scale-up projected to account for more than half of that market by 2030. That forecast is Dell'Oro's, relayed by Salience — not Ultrathink's estimate.
